AN UNLIKELY voter cast its vote for Thailand's upcoming general elections on Tuesday - an elephant.

The elephant, a resident of Autthaya province, 70km north of Bangkok, was part of a promotional event for the general election.


Thais will officially go to the polls on July 3.
