KUALA LUMPUR - A RM100 million (S$42 million) dress will be featured at a fundraising show in the lead-up to the Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix next Friday.

'Nightingale of KL' is designed by Faisol Abdullah of Jendela KL with 750 pieces of diamonds weighing over 1,000 carats held together by a pear-shaped 70-carat diamond from jeweller Mouawad.

Celebrity designer Datuk Jimmy Choo will provide the shoes.

Actress Kavita Sidhu has been given the honour to parade the dress and shoes at the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix KL at the Lake Gardens here.

'The dress is for sale at RM100 million. Datuk Jimmy Choo is delighted to create a pair of couture shoes to accompany it,' said Datuk Nancy Yeoh, the president and CEO of STYLO International.

If sold, 5 per cent of the sale price will be donated to a Gaza fundraising initiative.

Ms Yeoh added that only 500 handpicked guests would get to view the dress and shoe ensemble.

Faisol described the 'Nightingale of KL' as a couture evening gown in STYLO's corporate colours of red and burgundy and created out of 14m of silk and satin Malaysian batik.

He said the way the dress has been designed allows it to be customised to the needs of the buyer.

'As an investment, the dress is of excellent value,' said Mouawad Malaysia managing director Antoine Bakache. 'The diamonds, if sold individually, cost RM150 million,' he said.

STYLO Fashion Grand Prix KL will be held from March 28 to April 5 in four different locations in Kuala Lumpur. The main venue is a specially-erected STYLO Fashion Cube on the 91.6ha grounds of the KL Lake Gardens. -- THE STAR/ANN
