Busiest Dubai Metro station


With a continuous increase in the number of Metro users in Dubai, the monthly ridership is nearing 15 million, with an unprecedented 14,825,570 riders counted in the month of January alone. 

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the latest ridership numbers including the passenger numbers of Dubai Tram, which clocked 301,299 riders in the same month. 

The numbers show a steady growth in Metro passengers. During the same month last year, 13,508,247 riders were counted on both the Red and the Green Lines, indicating a nearly 10 per cent year-on-year increase. 

“Last month saw a significant increase in the number of riders of the Dubai Metro, which is indicative of the fact that RTA’s plan to augment the ridership of mass transit means is heading in the right direction,” commented Mohammed Al Mudharreb, Director of Rail Operation at the RTA. 

Deira City Center has remained the busiest station, attracting 641,663 riders in January this year. Burj Khalifa – Dubai Mall ranked second with 629,861 riders. The total number of passengers on the Red Line was 9,468,963. 

On the Green Line, Al Fahidi was the busiest station serving about 593,850 riders, while Baniyas station counted 562,627 passengers. The total number of riders on the Green Line was 5,356,607. 

On Dubai Tram Dubai Marina station ranked most popular serving about 77,807 riders. This was followed by JLT Station which was used by 38,230 riders.

An increase in the number of transport users since the opening of Dubai Tram became evident with a rise in the number of Nol card users. The RTA announced earlier that 35, 000Nol cards had been sold in the period from the launch of the Tram till the end of the year. Dubai Tram was launched on November 11, 2014.
