BRUSSELS - AB INBEV, the world's top beer maker, said on Thursday its net profits were down 41 per cent to Euro1.288 billion ($2.3 billion) in 2008 partly due to the acquisition of Anheuser-Busch.

The company reported profits of Euro2.198 billion in 2007.

The Belgium-based group was created in November by InBev's takeover of Anheuser-Busch, ending the US company's roughly 150 years of independence as a premier American brewer while creating the world's largest beer company. -- AFP
